Madison Heights Michigan Local Property Management
On January 17, 1955, the residents of the east side of Royal Oak township voted for the incorporation of the City of Madison Heights and elected nine commissioners to draft a charter for the new city. The Charter Commission drafted its first charter within six months of incorporation. The draft charter was presented to the citizens at a June 6th election and was defeated. A Revised Charter was again presented to the citizens on December 6, 1955 and it was approved, becoming the tenth city government in South Oakland County.
As of the census of 2010, there were 29,694 people, 12,712 households, and 7,543 families residing in the city. The population density was 4,188.2 inhabitants per square mile (1,617.1/km2). There were 13,685 housing units at an average density of 1,930.2 per square mile (745.3/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 83.9% White, 6.4% African American, 0.5% Native American, 5.8% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 0.7% from other races, and 2.7% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.5% of the population.
