Best Cat Breeds for Troy Apartment Living

Russian Blue Cat Walking Around the Legs of Their OwnerAs a whole, in terms of pets, cats are much better suited to Troy apartment life. Many are quiet, clean, and eager to curl up with their ideal human. But on the other hand, some cat breeds are actually more appropriate for apartment living than others. The breeds that offer the best fit are typically the more social, lower-energy animals that bond perfectly with their people. We identified seven breeds that rank among the best suited for apartment life.

1.   British Shorthair

This short-haired cat is a favorite for apartment-dwellers because they are independent but still friendly and affectionate. While British Shorthairs love to play, every time playtime is done, they are low-key and tend to entertain themselves. They make great apartment pets because they only require very little grooming and easily adapt to their owner’s personality and lifestyle.

2.   Persian

If you like your cats on the quiet but fluffy side, you can’t beat a Persian. These cats are lovely and kind, preferring a long nap to boisterous play. Persians are about as mellow as it gets. They equally do well in apartments due to the fact that they don’t call for a lot of space to roam.

3.     Scottish Fold

Scottish Folds are a great fit for apartment life because they are very affectionate but not too clingy. And at the same time, these cats are typically relaxed, rarely becoming temperamental or surprised. Intelligent and adaptable, Scottish Folds like a stable routine and lots of love and fondness from their owners.

4.   Ragdoll

One of the most popular cat breeds, Ragdolls are big, beautiful, and sociable companions. Just like Persians, their coats are quite fluffy and may need some extra grooming. Although they are slightly higher on the energy scale than their fluffier cousins. Ragdolls love their people and will want to play and snuggle with you as much as you will permit them.

5.   Russian Blue

If allergies are a challenge and a real concern, you might prefer adopting a Russian Blue. These short-haired cats have fur that is less likely to trigger an allergy attack. Nevertheless, there are many other considerations to select a Russian Blue for an apartment pet. They are curious, really playful, and very loyal to their favorite person.

6.   American Shorthair

If you’re going in search of a great family cat, you can’t go wrong with an American Shorthair. These cats are very low-maintenance and like to take countless naps. They are usually good with people of all ages as well as other pets. All an American Shorthair really needs is a perch by a window and your best back-scratching skills. They are apt to live long lives, making them excellent for those who aspire to enjoy several years of companionship with their furry friend.

7.   Birman

Another particular breed with a long, silky coat, Birmans are the friendliest cat around. Though rather tough to find, Birmans make great apartment pets because they thrive on playing and cuddling with their favorite people. When they are not playing, Birmans are usually napping or grooming themselves. All that hair takes a little work to maintain looking its ideal best.
